MTR 320 - Remote Sensing & Instrumentatn

Institution:
Western Connecticut State University
Subject:
Description:
This course is an introduction to advanced surface and space based meteorological and oceanographic observation systems. Modern day concepts and techniques currently employed to collect, study, analyze, and interpret data on the atmosphere and oceans are discussed. Interpretation of Doppler radar and polar or geosynchronous orbiting satellite-derived imagery of the synoptic and mesoscale structure of continental and oceanic severe weather producing systems (e.g. winter snowstorms, hurricanes) will be studied in addition to more traditional meteorological measurements and their analysis obtained by fundamental instruments (e.g. thermometers, barometers, psychrometers, and radiosondes).
