The history, philosophy and significance of outdoor education in American culture. Current practices in the various types of camps are studied and discussed. Personal assessment of individual skills necessary for outdoor education leadership is followed by practice of the skills needed. A project which includes planning, carrying out and evaluating a worthwhile outdoor experience is required of each student.
