A study of the basic techniques of conducting, score reading, beat patterns, rehearsal procedures, and style in the instrumental and vocal media. Emphasis is placed on physical exercises, coordination, and the development of fundamental baton techniques. Students conduct in class and observe rehearsal situations with the College ensembles. Offered in alternate years (fall 2008). Prerequisites: MUS 130 and MUS 131 with minimum grade of "C."
