The course will examine the concepts and the processes of love, dating, sexual behavior, mate selection, marriage, divorce, parenting, etc. in the context of social expectations of American culture and ongoing social change in the values, attitudes and the roles of men and women. The students will come to understand themselves and their interpersonal relationships in the context of their group affiliations, such as family, school, peers, workers, socioeconomic class and the religious organization, etc. It will provide the kind of information that will make the students more aware of the factors that might be causing marriage and family problems and also various skills and techniques of coping with and resolving the problems. (Prerequisite: SOC 101) On demand.
