3 Cr. Two hours instruction/two hours lab per week. This course serves as a capstone of the AODA program. The student will develop a theoretical foundation and effective counseling skills for work in the specialized fi eld of substance abuse disorders. Topics to be covered will include philosophies, practices, policies, and outcomes of the most generally accepted and scientifi cally supported models of treatment, recovery, relapse prevention, and continuing care for addiction and other substance-use related problems. A high degree of academic autonomy is expected from students in this course. Prerequisites: 205, 270; 422 or concurrent enrollment.
