1 Cr. A practical introduction to accompanying and performance practice on the harpsichord for the pianist. Survey of the history and construction of the instrument. Examination and application of the principles of touch and tone, articulation, fi ngering, and ornamentation. Study of the art of harpsichord accompanying and basso continuo as well as the theory and practices of fi gured-bass realization, with an emphasis on literature of the Baroque period. Performances required. Offered as needed. Prerequisites: 206, 252.
