Detailed examination of the literature written in England during the fi rst third of the 19th century with a focus on understanding the assigned works within their historical and cultural contexts. Includes analysis of non-canonical writers as well as emphasis on the major poets of the era. The course will examine at least two novels from the period and may center on a special topic in English Romanticism. Prerequisite: 104. G6, G9
