Itexamines themes and issues that have impacted the lives of African Americans in the diaspora historically and presently. While the course focuses on African-descended North Americans, it provides some discussion of the global African experience. This course also traces the development of African/ African American studies as a discipline and fi eld of knowledge in the academy.
