Introduction to the art and science of engineering through the basics of mechanical, electrical, chemical and biological systems. Topics covered include: definition and history of engineering; ethics and social responsibility; engineering design process; engineering solutions; estimations and approximations; dimensions; units and conversions; mathematics and computer solutions; lifelong learning; Newton's laws; statics and dynamics; thermal sciences; energy; electricity and electronics; materials; manufacturing; economics; and introduction to the various engineering disciplines and mechanical engineering sub-disciplines.
