This course examines the major theoretical traditions and thinkers of feminist theory from the works of early liberal feminists like Wollstonecraft to the present thought of postmodern and lesbian feminists like Wittig. It examines arguments about human nature, the origins and effects of patriarchy, the conflict between equality and gender difference and feminist critiques of traditional theories of knowledge.
