Wogayehu. Offered through the Penn Language Center. Amharic is a Semitic language belonging to the Afro-Asiatic or Hemeto-Semitic family. It is spoken by approximately 13 million people in Ethiopia, where it is the official language. Students will use both written and oral excercises to gain a greater knowledge of the language and culture.
