This course provides instruction in a variety of behavior strategies, including the development of social skills. Emphasis is placed on students with disabilities in a broad range of educational environments. Proactive systems of behavior intervention, management and modification are examined to target specific behaviors while providing an environment that encourages inclusion, self-advocacy and increased independence. Methods of data collection and analysis are explored throughout this course. This course meets the behavioral strategies requirement for the State of Maine endorsements: Teacher of Students with Disabilities, K-8 and 7-12.
