			The field of political ecology examines and attempts to explain the political dimensions of human-environment relations. This course will introduce the field, its history, methods, and perspectives, and emphasize the application of its principles and perspectives to the understanding and management or resolution of real-world, environment-related problems. Students will select and research an issue pertinent to Downeast Maine such as salmon aquaculture, wild salmon population restoration, blueberry farming, or the siting of Liquid Natural facilities; analyze it, and develop a remediation plan that takes into account a range of environmental and social dimensions.
