The course examines the history, development, and operation of the U.S. Congress. Attention is given to congressional elections, congressional-presidential relations, and the policy-making process, and the sociology and politics of legislative process; legislative recruitment, structure and influence of the committee system, impact of party leadership, and nature of legislative decision-making.
