3 semester hours This course covers the study of basic nutrition including the role of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, and minerals in human metabolism. Topics will include energy sources and systems, energy requirements in physical exertion, weight and diet, and a review of current dietary practices. Applications of nutritional principles to physical fitness and performance enhancement and the effect of various ergogenic aids will be studied.
