3 semester hours Prerequisite: MATH 132 or permission of the instructor This course offers an introduction to current cryptological practice that have mathematical content or underpinnings. Topics include ciphers and modular arithmetic, probability and expectation, the Hill cipher including matrix arithmetic, Boolean functions, computational complexity, and number theory. A graphing calculator is required.
