3 semester hours This course covers the fundamental theories of hunter, jumper, and dressage training. Coverage of obedience training from the ground, proper tack and equipment application, usage, and stable management techniques expected in a professional show barn. Theoretical and riding work on equitation principles (both on the flat and over fences) and how these impact the training process, application of the aids, principles of dressage, gymnastics, and coursework will also be covered. (Offered only during the fall.)
