3 semester hours Prerequisite: TECH 410 or permission of instructor This course explores the field of computer forensics with an emphasis on evidence collection, preservation of evidence, and data analysis. Topics will include the scope and impact of computer crime, forensics basics, forensic tools and their usage, access and control, incident handling and reporting, collection and preservation of evidence in a way that is acceptable in a court of law, legal and ethical considerations, and policy and statutes.
