3 semester hours Prerequisite: COMM 240 or permission of instructor This course provides analysis of the techniques used in the practice of public relations, advertising, and integrated marketing communications with special emphasis on the development of the news release, special events planning, press conference, and crisis management. Investigation into the use of public relations, advertising, and integrated marketing communications in corporations, education, government, health care, media, science, and technology. Review and critique of selected case studies and application of techniques will be accentuated in assigned projects via campaign planning and implementation.
