5 semester hours Prerequisite: acceptance into the Physician Assistant Program This course will introduce the student to the principles of medicine. The focus will be on adult disorders, both medical and surgical. The course content includes: etiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic workup, and management of the disorder. Adult Medicine I and Pathophysiology is designed to introduce the student to common disease entities within the various medical specialty areas. Attention is given to other diseases which, although less common, may, present as medical emergencies. Through a series of modules or sections, lectures will be presented on the pathophysiology and clinical approach to various system disorders.
