This course deals with several numerical methods for solving mathematical problems of a different nature. The topics covered in the course are numerical methods for solution of equations of one variable, interpolation and polynomial approximation, numerical integration and differentiation, initial value problems for differential equations, direct methods for linear systems and matrix factorization. Knowledge of a computer programming language is desirable but not required. Prerequisites: M 351 and M 371. (Spring of odd numbered years)
