Basic principles of plant biology are covered with special emphasis on the historical and economic impact of plants on humans. The uses of plants for food, fiber and fuel are examined along with plant structure and diversity. Poisonous, medicinal and hallucinogenic plants also are discussed. The laboratory emphasizes plant diversity and study of the economic products derived from plants. Cannot be counted toward biology major. Offered irregularly.
