The course will cover topics such as radioactive decay, decay systematics, nuclear models and nuclear reactions. Applications of radioactivity to chemical problems will be discussed. Techniques of nuclear chemistry, nuclear processes as chemical probes and other such topics will be covered. A discussion of the preparation and properties of transplutonium elements will be included. Credits: 3 hrs Prerequisite: one year of college chemistry; one course in physical chemistry or modern physics Notes: This is a graduate course in an undergraduate program.
