This course provides a broad introduction to the problem of peace and security in the contemporary world. The course will reach beyond the traditional definition of security and discuss several nonmilitary aspects of security, such as technology, the environment, and demographics change. Special attention will be paid to so-called "rogue" states and security concerns stemming from conflicts in the developing world.Credits: 3 hours When Offered: (offered fall, even years) NOTE: This course fulfills the Social Scientific Mode of Inquiry of the Liberal Studies Program. NOTE: This course counts toward the 63-hour Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) graduation requirement.
