This course explores a wide variety of approaches to teaching reading and language arts to intermediate level children. Emphasis is placed on strategic reading and writing of non-fiction, multiple ways of using language for creative and personal expression, integrating the language arts across the curriculum, spelling, vocabulary development and critical literacy.
