This course will cover the following topics: classification of instability phenomena; imperfection sensitivity; illustration with mechanical models; systems with finite degrees of freedom,; postbuckling analysis using perturbation techniques; stability and nonlinear behavior of struts, plates, and cylindrical shells; nonconservation problems; and numerical methods.
