Examination of gender and women's issues outside the United States. The course consists of preparation for the study abroad trip through readings about gender and the politics of travel and about the particular destination. Study abroad experience typically consist of participation in a conference relevant to Women's Studies at the end of the semester and a structured study trip, which examines the interplay between gender, culture, and politics in a particular country or region and in comparative perspective. Destinations mayinclude: Spain and the Basque Country, Ireland and the Netherlands, Turkey and Cyprus, Morocco and Egypt. (Winter/Spring/Summer). Liberal arts. Prerequisites: WMS101 or one of the following PSY101, SOC101, HIS101, ANT102, or POI.
