The political economy of the city and its sociological consequences. Selected cities in Canada, Mexico and the U.S. will be examined in comparative perspective. The historic legacy and factors determining recent social patterns will be analyzed, including the following: class composition, mobility, ethnicity and subculture formation, urban problems and prospects.
