An introductory level course for non-science majors, focusing on simple mathematical models in contexts of general interest. The course emphasizes the use of mathematics to analyze issues of interest to an informed member of society. There is emphasis on active learning. Students should expect to read and write about the applications of mathematics, and to solve non-routine problems in mathematics. (Fall/Spring). Liberal arts.
