Preparation of copy for publication. Fundamentals of editing at a micro and macro level, including copy-editing, headline and caption writing, and handling wire copy. Emphasis given to newsroom decision-making; coaching writers; making sound ethical and legal decisions; and using correct style, grammar, usage, punctuation and spelling. (Once a year). Liberal arts. Prerequisite: JOU308 or POI.
