This course is an introduction to the broad structures and processes of the contemporary global political economy (GPE). The course analyzes the dynamic intersection of global economics and politics examining the historical and current relationships between states, markets and groups within societies. The course includes an introduction to the basic theoretical paradigms in (GPE), including the liberal, economic nationalist, structuralist, and feminist perspectives and uses these frameworks to explore how asymmetiric power between rich and poor countries affect the process and outcomes of globalization in specific regions of the world.
