Works studied include both major (Evangeline, The Song of Hiawatha, "The Courtship of Miles Standish") and minor ("Paul Revere's Ride," "The Building of the Ship," "The Slave's Dream") poems. Attention paid both to his subject matter as a thinker on cultural and personal themes and to his craft as a poet. (Annually). Liberal arts. Prerequisite: ENG101
