Canadian films are examined in the context of Canadian film history and in comparison with U.S. films. Besides analyzing each film for film language, structure and texture, general and specific differences between Canadian film and the typical "Hollywood formula" film of the same genre will be explored. The class also examines Canadian practices of film production, distribution, exhibition, and funding. (Fall/Spring). Liberal arts. Prerequisite: CAS111.
