Principles of host defense mechanisms, immunological and nonimmunological mechanisms; antibody-reactions, cell development and cooperation in the immune response, regulation and genetic control, and synthesis, structure and genetics of antibodies. Studies of physical methods of protein chemistry, preparation of antigens and antisera, isolation and purification of antibodies, tissue culture and various antigen-antibody reactions. Lecture/laboratory. (Fall). Liberal arts. Prerequisites: BIO203; BIO305 or BIO350; BIO401; CHE242 (CHE371 is recommended).
