Theoretically and practically examines the interlocking forces of gender and age within the context of society and the constraints of social structure, from a life course perspective. Topical areas will include the social construction of age and gender; structural inequalities that result in ageism and sexism across the life course; male and female experiences of aging that interact with gender to give rise to changed gender roles and relationships into later life. Prerequisite: SOC 100 or 150 or ANT 102. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.) Notes: Category B.
