(O) An introduction to environmental policy in the United States. The course explores the relations between politics and the environment. Topics to be addressed include the origin and influence of grassroots public interest groups, the role of government in setting environmental agendas, and the effect of various actors on public policy. The course will include case studies of important issues such as global warming, overpopulation, ozone depletion, deforestation and water pollution. Prerequisite: POL 100 recommended.
