This course is an orientation to the issues, challenges and opportunities of early childhood education. It provides an overview of the history and philosophy of early care and education to the current system of early care and education in the United States. Criteria for developing, operating and evaluating early childhood programs will be introduced. Students will be introduced to the early childhood education program's conceptual framework, program plan, technological and other resources, and will observe early childhood programs and classrooms.
