Cross-listed as PES 441. An introductory survey course which investigates the linkage between sport and society from a sociological perspective. The sport-society nexus is examined from functionalist, conflict critical, and feminist theoretical frameworks. Organized around several intellectual discourses, sport is analyzed and discussed within multiple social and cultural contexts. Challenges students to discover how sport can be made more democratic, more socially just, more accessible to all. 3 Cr. Every Semester
