Explores the theoretical bases, scientific method, general principles of classical physics, mechanics, electricity, magnetism and optics at an introductory college level. Presents important physical principles in these areas using lectures and illustrates physical principles using demonstrations with an extensive collection of machines and toys such as Glug-Glug Tug (rocket), Danseuse Magnetique (interacting magnets) and the Two-Speed Gripper (a toy car with interesting motion). Three hours of lecture/demonstration per week. 3 Cr. Every Semester
