Prerequisite: FRN 212. Designed to give an overview of social, political, educational, cultural and economic phenomena in modern-day France in an attempt to explain what motivates a French person. Topics to be discussed include family structure, government, religion, the educational system, how the French interact with their Francophone partners, the European Union, and the role of the media. French mores and attitudes will be studied and compared to American ways of life. 3 Cr. Spring
