Prerequisite: MTH 111 or higher. Provides a breadth-first introduction to computer science. Includes these topics: algorithms and their properties; binary, octal and hexadecimal: arithmetic and conversion; representation of integer and real numbers; elementary computer organization, architecture and programming of a simple machine; digital logic; Java programming: declarations, assignments, expressions, I/O and loops; operating systems and networks; database, spreadsheet, etc.; ethical, legal and social issues of computing.
