This writing intensive seminar is intended for students who wish to acquire experience in sociological research, are considering writing an honors thesis in sociology (A Soc 498), or may be interested in graduate studies in sociology. Topics covered include the choice of a research question, theoretical issues, review of literature, research design, collection and analysis of data, and presentation of results. A research proposal is written under the supervision of a member of the department of sociology. Prerequisite(s): A Soc 115 or 115Z, 220, 221, and 235, and an overall GPA of 3.25 or higher, and permission of instructor.
