Prerequisites: JOUR 205, 208. Students will learn to edit according to the Associated Press Stylebook; write effective headlines and photo captions; select articles, photos, graphics and typefaces; become familiar with legal issues and tools that assist in research and fact verification; evaluate press estimates; and stay within budget. Use of color and the differences between editing for newspapers, magazines, and newsletters will be considered. Students will produce a newsletter and develop editing skills through various projects.
