Spring semester. 3 semester hours. Sport psychology is the scientific study of people and their behavior in sport, and is concerned with the psychological determinants of behavior in movement situations, as well as the psychological effects of sport engagement. This course would address the fundamental areas within sports psychology, including, but not be limited to, the following topics - motivation, attributions, imagery, goal setting, confidence, attentional focus, team cohesion, leadership, anxiety and stress. Students taking this course will be expected to demonstrate understanding of, and the application of the topic when coaching children and youth.
