1 semester hour. A critical component of health care practice is the ability to recognize needs for information and possessing the skills/ability to locate, evaluate and use the needed information effectively. This course is designed to enable students with the competencies needed to become independent lifelong learners able to make informed decision based on critical reasoning and evaluation of medical and scientific literature. The effects of public health information literacy on health care delivery and the role of primary care providers in promoting patient health information literacy are also explored.
