This course treats the following: the antecedents of the present constitutional structure; the characteristics and politics of the parliamentary-presidential system; the nature of contemporary political parties and constitutional order; and the nature of economic, social, cultural, industrial, and technological planning and policy-making. Prerequisites: FREN 232. It is strongly recommended that students have completed one upperlevel comparative government course. May be counted toward a major or minor in political science. This course counts as part of Group III on the major. Three hours.
