It is a survey of the theoretical principles upon which the U.S. national government was founded as well as a practical look at the structure and function of U.S. national government. Emphasis is placed on the U.S. Constitution, American political institutions, mass political behavior, and mediating institutions such as political parties, interest groups, and the media.
