Mathematical foundations of statistical theory and practice. Sampling theory, point and interval estimation, tests of hypotheses, regression and correlation, analysis of variance. Successful completion of this sequence should provide sufficient background in mathematical statistics and statistical methodology for graduate courses in statistics and graduate courses in the social, biological, and medical sciences or in any discipline which uses statistics as an explanatory tool. Prerequisite: MATH 371. Offered alternate years. Three hours. Mr. Sutton.
