Novelists studied will vary.Writers considered in the past have included Charles Chestnutt, James Weldon Johnson, Richard Wright, Chester Himes, Zora Neale Hurston, Ralph Ellison, James Baldwin, Alice Walker, Toni Morrison, Gloria Naylor, Charles Johnson, and Roger Mosley.
