In this course the student will acquire an understanding of the methods and techniques used in crime detection. Topics as diverse as microscopy, toxicology, serology, fingerprinting, and document and voice examination, as well as arson and explosives investigation will be examined. Extensive use of case studies will be made emphasizing the role that the foren- sic scientist played in the detection and solution of the crime. May be used in partial fulfillment of the collegiate laboratory science requirement. Three hours of lecture and one three-hour laboratory session per week. Offered alternate years. Four hours.
